Research laboratory description

Looking at the current context, new trends in marital relations tend to produce structural changes in the lives of married and unmarried couples. A series of new legislative elements concerning engagement, divorce, property regimes, as well as new guidelines on consensual unions, require social research to focus on the structural changes that contemporary couples are undergoing. Through its research programs, the laboratory aims to analyze the structure of married couples in the context of a continuous structural transition that tends to redefine the Romanian family.

Research objectives

Among its objectives, the laboratory aims to research new trends in couple life regarding role distribution, gender attitudes, new ways of functional development, socio-legal trends regarding marriage, etc. In this sense, the research directions aim at: marital functionality, marital role dimension, history of family relations, gender attitudes, legal alternatives to marriage, socio-legal aspects of contemporary marriage, consensual union, demographic issues such as divorce rate, nuptiality, birth rate, etc.
